Good afternoon Riverside family!
We are living in a unique time right now. My hope and prayer is that all of you are doing well. I know this is a time for social distancing, and even though we’re really only a few days into this I’ve already been reminded that we were never created to do this life alone or in isolation. So, I want to encourage you during this time to take time to draw near to God and to stay connected to each other. I’m already hearing stories of how this is happening in the life of our church. So many of you are checking in with each other and taking care of each other in a variety of ways. Thank you for doing that! I’m not surprised, but I am encouraged.
Today, I just want to give you another update. As of today, we want to let you know that we will not be gathering at church for the next two Sundays (March 22 & 29), but we will continue to worship online together! This past Sunday, I received so much positive feedback from so many of you who joined us online for church. Thank you for doing that. We think this is an amazing way for us to stay connected to each other. We will provide you with a link on Saturday for Home Worship Resources. And, you can find all that on our website each weekend as well! Let me tell you, I think this is an amazing time for the church right now. We have an opportunity to reach more people than we’ve ever reached. I heard more than one story last week of some of you who invited people who would never set foot in our church building to be a part of church online this past Sunday, and they accepted your invitation! Let’s continue to do that. This is an incredible time for us to invite people to be a part of what God is doing at Riverside and join us online!
Also, over the next two weeks, we will not have any church activities taking place at the building. In fact, we’re asking our staff to work from home as well. If you need anything, please reach out to anyone on our staff or any of our elders. I can tell you that our staff is working around the clock right now as we shift gears and are striving to serve the needs of our church and our community right now.
Some of you have asked about home groups. We will continue to provide resources for our home groups. However, you may want to consider meeting virtually. Many of you can do this over the phone, via FaceTime, Google Meet, or using other online platforms. If your group would like to meet online and you need help with that, let us know and we will help you however we can.
Others of you have asked about giving. Many of you give online and if you do, thank you! It’s easy to go to our website and set up online recurring giving. While we are being diligent to be good stewards during this time, the mission and the work of our church moves forward! If you prefer to write a check, please let us know. We will be happy to send you self addressed stamped envelopes so you can mail your checks to Riverside during this time.
Again, my prayer is that we will stay connected and stay encouraged during this time. We love you, we’re praying for you, and we’re trusting in God together! Live Different today!
