What is Winterfest:

Winterfest is a weekend retreat going on for 20 years now. This retreat is geared toward middle and high school teens. Winterfest is attended primarily by teens from acappella churches of Christ, although groups from several different fellowships come back each year. Teachers and speakers from our fellowship teach and encourage teens in their walk with God. This weekend is geared toward discipleship. The teachers and guests that come use real life stories, drama, music and scripture to make the Christian life come alive to the teens involved. Our acappella praise and worship times are uplifting and engaging. We have contemporary Christian concerts at our events that are supplemental to the weekend (we have had Jars of Clay, Third Day, Newsboys, Audio A, Supertones, Tait, to name a few). Believing that the Christian life can be very joyful, we bring in the best Christian entertainers we can find to challenge teens with their lifestyle and their attitudes (Tom Tufts, CPR, Dr. Comedy, Bob Smiley, Brad Montague, 3-2-1, Bean & Bailey, and George's favorite Big Bobby "Mr. Montana" Stromberg). Winterfest is always the third weekend in January in Arlington, Texas at the Arlington Convention Center.

What is the Winterfest Schedule:

Winterfest takes place on a Friday - Sunday, January 15-17 2010.

What are Host homes?

Host homes are an optional way of bonding more with other teenagers attending Winterfest from our youth group.  Families at Riverside open up their homes Friday and Saturday night to host/sleep a small group of teens of the same gender and close to the same grade.  The smaller setting is a great chance to have some late night fun and of course a nice breakfast with your friends.  Students do not pick their host home, and are welcome to stay at their own home for sleep instead.  However, all transport to and from Winterfest is done from host homes locations so if you do not stay at a host home you will need to find a ride in the morning to your host home in order to catch a ride to Arlington.  You will be contacted January 10 for your host home location.

Can I bring visitors or parents?

Winterfest is an excellent opportunity to bring a visitor of any or no faith background.  Also parents are encouraged to attend, and in years past some adult only classes have been offered. (Though I recommend bringing a set of ear plugs for the concert).  Parents please be prepared to help drive students in a vehicle to and from Winterfest. Also please take note that adults who register before November 30th and go Fri-Sun attend for FREE!

What do I need to bring?

·         Your own dinner on Friday to the building where we will caravan out to Arlington.

·         You will need to bring a bible with your name in it in case you forget it somewhere.

·         You may also want to bring a light jacket in case it is cold inside the convention center.

·         There will be vendors selling snacks, drinks, music, and clothing but how much personal spending money is your choice.

·         Additionally if you are spending the night at a host home you will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, toiletries, and a change of clothes (what you would wear to school is appropriate).

How much is Winterfest and How do I register?

There are many packages to Winterfest.  Depending on when you register and how many days you would be able to attend the price varies.  The cost of Winterfest will pay for all your meals  (except your Friday dinner), parking and gas, all classes and sessions, all concerts, any free time activity we participate in, and also your very own Winterfest  t-shirt.  You do not need to bring any additional money to Winterfest unless you plan on spending money at the vendors . All registration this year will be done online.  Please fill out the form on the registration link and submit your payment via credit card.  Please give your page time to submit all the information before you close the page, and you will receive an email from Riverside confirming your registration within 1 week, otherwise you will need to re-register.  Winterfest has raised its prices and is becoming very expensive but we want everyone to be able to attend.  For that reason, scholarships (partial and full) are available for as many members or visitors to attend to hear the Gospel; we do not want money to be an issue.  Please contact George Richards at 972-462-8759 if you are in need of a scholarship.  Super saver registration ends Nov 30th and Regular Registration ends January 7th.
